Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, a folk artist lost his life and six others sustained serious injuries after a cargo auto-rickshaw they were traveling in overturned near Bagheipur on the Dasabatia-Bagheipur road under Balikuda police limits in Jagatsinghpur district this afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Indra Gochhayat from Naharana village, while the injured have been rushed to the Balikuda Community Health Centre (CHC) for medical treatment.
Reports indicate that the victims were members of the ‘Ghoda Naccha’ team hailing from Balipatna village under Balikuda block. They were en route to perform at an awareness program under the ‘Ama Odisha Nabin Odisha’ initiative of the state government when the tragic accident occurred.
The Balikuda police have initiated an investigation into the incident to determine its cause and any potential liabilities.
