Power tariff to be hiked as DERC allows distribution companies demand
New Delhi, June 26 : The power tariff will hike for the residents of Delhi as Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) has allowed the demand of distribution companies following which the Power Purchase Cost Adjustment (PPAC) has been increased.
BSES Yamuna Power has been allowed to charge 9.42 per cent and BSES Rajdhani Power 6.39 more on top of the prevailing rates.
Delhi Power Minister Atishi took a dig at the Centre over PPAC hike, she said, “The increasing electricity price is due to the mismanagement of the Central government, because coal has become expensive, artificial shortage has happened for the first time.”
She further said, “The Coal purchasers are forced to buy 10 per cent imported coals, which comes to Rs 25,000 tonne which is 10 times more expensive than Indian coal.”
The charges will not impact on the consumers who have been receiving zero bills but those who have been getting bills will have to pay an extra surcharge.
