Odisha Braces for Cold Wave: Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre Issues Fog Alerts
Bhubaneswar: As the cold wave tightens its grip, the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre has issued a forecast predicting shallow to moderate fog at various locations across Odisha until the morning of December 21. The chilling weather conditions have prompted the weather agency to caution residents about potential fog occurrences in specific districts.

December 19 Morning Till 8:30 AM:
Shallow to moderate fog is expected at one or two places in Keonjhar, Kalahandi, Koraput, Kandhamal, Balangir, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Angul, and Dhenkanal districts.
December 19 to December 20 (24 hours):
Similar foggy conditions are likely at one or two places in Keonjhar, Kalahandi, Koraput, Kandhamal, Balangir, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Angul, and Dhenkanal districts.
December 20 to December 21 (24 hours):
The forecast extends to include Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj districts, where shallow to moderate fog may occur.
While the state is expected to experience dry weather conditions in the coming days, the night temperatures are anticipated to remain relatively stable over the next 4-5 days, according to the weather agency. Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, the twin cities, are likely to see nighttime temperatures hovering around 13 degrees Celsius for the next 3-4 days, with a slight increase thereafter.
Recent observations noted that both cities recorded temperatures of 13.5 degrees Celsius in the last 24 hours. Notably, the mercury dropped below 10 degrees Celsius in 10 locations across the state during this period. G Udayagiri in Kandhamal and Kirei in Sundargarh emerged as the coldest, registering temperatures as low as 8 degrees Celsius.
