A dreaded criminal as jitendra Palei alias Jitu, who involved in a number of bombing and attempt to murder cases, was nabbed following a police encounter in Bhubaneswar in the wee hours of Sunday.
According to sources, police had information about Jitu travelling to Bhubaneswar in a car. On getting information regarding the movement of the criminal towards Bhubaneswar, a police team led by the Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) of Kharvelanagar police station and other officers intercepted Palei near Tankapani road. However, the criminal managed to escape via an earthen road.
The police team chased the criminal who started firing at the police team. To save the life of the Police personnel, Inspector Rajnikant Mishra IIC of Kharvel Nagar resorted to controlled firing in self defence.
In this encounter the dreaded criminal Jitu Palei has been injured and is undergoing treatment in the Capital Hospital of Bhai Bhubaneswar. Later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack.
Senior police officials said that Palei was Jitu wanted in a bombing and attempt to murder case registered in Kharvelnagar police station of Bhubaneswar. The criminal was chased by a team consisting of Kharvel Nagar IIC and other officers.
