‘Such a nostalgic feeling’: Virat Kohli breaks the internet by driving to Delhi stadium before India vs Australia 2nd Test, his first in 6 years
Ahead of the second Test in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Virat Kohli will return to his home ground, the Arun Jaitley Stadium, in New Delhi for an international match.
Feroz Shah Kotla, now known as the Arun Jaitley Stadium, is the place where young Virat Kohli developed his skills to become one of the best in the world. The batter has played only three out of 105 Test matches in his hometown and the format is returning to the stadium after six years as it will host the second Test between India and Australia.
Two days before the start of the Test, Kohli created a stir on social media by sharing an emotional post. On his Instagram handle, Kohli posted a photo story driving to the Arun Jaitley Stadium, where he has so much history. “A long drive towards the stadium in Delhi after ages. Such a nostalgic feeling,” he captioned the story.
Virat Kohli, who resides in Mumbai, played his last competitive match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in April 2019 when he led Royal Challengers Bangalore against Delhi Capitals. Only in November 2019, a Virat Kohli pavilion was unveiled when the stadium was renamed from Feroz Shah Kotla to Arun Jaitley Stadium.
As Kohli looks to regain his form in Tests, what better to make amends than to do it at the very venue that helped him take baby steps towards superstardom. Having found his form back in T20Is and ODIs, Kohli now has the chance to script a fairytale return to Delhi and snap his three-plus-year century drought in Tests in front of a crowd egging him on.
