Mumbai Vlogger Pays Food Bill With Coins At Taj Hotel, Internet Divided
Have you ever experienced an embarrassing moment where you don’t have enough change and are forced to count your change out in coins?
While eating at a five-star restaurant, there are certain etiquettes to be followed. One needs to dress up accordingly, comply with table manners and pay the bill with either cash or a card. But a Mumbai-based content creator decided to break the rule and paid the bill with a handful of coins instead of cash or card.
However, a content creator from Mumbai decided to do something different by paying his bill at a high-end restaurant with coins. The creator identified as, Siddhesh Lokare, recorded a video of his experience on Instagram, which has gone viral.

The video began with Lokare getting ready to head up to the hotel’s on site restaurant. He can be seen walking in carrying in a backpack where he is directed to a seat. He then takes a look at the menu and makes a comments on how expensive the items are.
He then proceeds to order a pizza and a mocktail. After finishing the meal, it was time to pay the bill and at that moment he took out a plastic bag of coins and begins counting it. The video then pans to some of the other diners at the restaurant and they can be seen looking curiously at the exchange.
A staff member then came to collect his bill and he looked surprised for a minute but accepted the coins, along with a few notes, and walked away laughing.
The video then cut to Lokare walking out of the restaurant, carrying his leftover pizza.
“Own yourself for who you are and not how the situation or people expect you to be,” he said at the end of the clip. “It is the transaction that matters, whether you do it in dollars or coins.”
So far, the clip has garnered more than 1.4 million views and tons of comments. While some were impressed with the experiment, others were not convinced by the stunt and criticized him for inconveniencing the staff.
One user wrote, “Good one. But why did u wear a suit? Don’t u think that too is a layer of decorum?” and another comment read, “Need this level of courage & confidence.”
“What an idiotic, pointless ‘experiment’! My sympathies lie with the staff” wrote a third person and a fourth commented, “The cashier may smile but he might have cursed you like anything.”
