Three killed, two injured in road accident in Odisha
Puri, Feb 13: In a tragic incident three people including the driver of an auto-rickshaw died and two were critically injured in a road accident on the Puri Konark marine drive road near Pipili in Puri district on Sunday in a freak accident involving a bike, an auto rickshaw and a four-wheeler.
Police sources said while two died on the spot one breathed his last on the way to SCB Medical
College and Hospital, Cuttack.
Two of the deceased are women from Andhra Pradesh.
Police identified the deceased as Ramalu a fifty-year-old lady from the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh, Rajesh Reddy, the auto-rickshaw driver of Puri Pentkota and Dakshyaini (40) a lady also from the Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh who died on the way to SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack.
First, the bike hit the auto-rickshaw from behind near Bhuan village and at the same time, a four-wheeler going to Konark hit the rickshaw from the front.
Locals informed the police and ambulance. Passengers of the rickshaw and the bike rider duo of father and son were worst hit.
Doctors declared two dead and referred three to SCB medical college and hospital as their condition was critical. Reports came that one of them was on the way.
Marine Police handed over the bodies to their families after postmortem and investigation into the cause of the accident.
