Shocking footage of RD University’s boundary wall collapses; others allege sub-standard work
A little less than three months after being constructed, a large portion of boundary wall of the Rama Devi Women’s University here collapsed, today.
According to reports, around 100 feet long portion of the boundary wall near the Rupali Square has collapsed towards a park on the premises of the varsity.
It was alleged that the boundary wall collapsed due to sub-standard work as it was constructed and beautified in a haphazard manner in view of President Draupadi Murnu’s visit to the university which is her alma mater.
University’s Vice Chancellor Prof. Aparajita Chowdhury also alleged about poor work of the boundary wall. “It is an unfortunate incident. We had earlier informed the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and concerned authorities regarding water-soaking near the boundary wall. It also lacked beam and pillar during the construction. The concerned contractor will be questioned about the matter,” she said.

It is pertinent to mention here that RD Women’s University authorities had informed BMC about the leakage of water and the condition of the boundary wall which connects with a vending zone on busy Janpath.
