Ragging! BJB College students thrashed by seniors over love affair In Odisha capital
In yet another incident of ragging cases in the State, The Twin City Commissionerate Police on Thursday arrested three Plus 2 second-year students of BJB College in Odisha capital for thrashing a junior over an alleged love affair.
According to the information, the victim, who is a Plus-II Science first-year student, was going to college with his female friend. Meanwhile, some second-year students belonging to the Arts stream intercepted them and asked him not to be befriended the girl. Later, they allegedly thrashed him mercilessly.
However, the first year student paid no heed to their warnings and continued to being friends with the girl. This infuriated his seniors so much so that they thrashed him black and blue after finding him alone inside the college campus.
Two videos related to this thrashing incident were widely circulated in the social media. In these videos, it was seen that a group of five students were beating the junior studen by using abusive language. Some other students were also supporting them.
In the video, the seniors were seen abusing and assaulting the boy on campus. Some other students were also seen supporting them.
However, the city DCP has discarded the ragging claim.
“The victim is a Plus-II first science student and the accused are second-year Art students. Investigations have been initiated in this regard,” said Bhubaneswar DCP, Prateek Sing.
Meanwhile the victim student has been taken to the medical test. After the medical report will come , further action will be ascertained.
