Bhubaneswar, Oct 28: The Amrit Kalash special train carrying the sacred soil from 13,128 villages covering 2720 panchayats spread over 314 blocks in Odisha was flagged off by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan here on Saturday.
Pradhan accompanied by former Union Minister Pratap Sharanghi, BJP MP Aparajita Sharangi, BJP Odisha President Manmohan Samal led the Amrut Kalas Yatra from Ram Mandir to Bhubaneswar Railway station in a massive procession attended by thousand party workers and leaders.
The Amrit Kalash special train carrying the sacred soil from Odisha left for New Delhi with party volunteers from Bhubaneswar Railway station.
Speaking on the occasion, Pradhan said party volunteers and workers representing four crore people of Odisha have travelled in the train to Delhi where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will installed the amrit kalash container at ‘Amrit Vatika’ on October 31, the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
The Minister said the “Meri Maati Mera Desh” programme was launched in Odisha by Union Finance Minister Nirmal Sitharaman form Biraharekrushnapur, the native village of prominent freedom fighter of Indian Independence movement Jai Rajguru.
He said it was most and proud moment that people of Odisha irrespective of their party affiliation, were involved in the Meri Maati Mera Desh programme and offered tribute to the great freedom fighters Bauxi Jagabandhu, Veer Surendra Sai, Baji Rout, Laxman Naik, Dharanidhar Naik, Sarangdhar Das and Bika Nayak besides the Kargil martyrs..
The ‘Amrit Kalash Yatra’, the Union Minister said, serves as a tribute to the national heroes who sacrificed their lives for the nation.
