Odisha’s Covid surge continues, tally rises to 731; Avoid Hugging, Kissing & Shaking Hands, Says IMA
Odisha reported 141 more Covid19 positive cases in the last 24 hours, With this, the active Covid-19 cases tally in the State surged to 731 according to the Union health ministry data.
While symptoms in most cases have been mild so far, the state health department has advised people with comorbidity to immediately undergo testing and treatment in the event of any symptoms. Only 12 patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals. The state has so far seen one COVID death this year, reports said.
According to sources, as many as 5016 samples were tested in the last 24 hours of which 141 came out positive.
Meanwhile, Odisha Public health director Niranjan Mishra said the infections are being reported from 16 districts in the State.
“The positivity rate in the country is 6.9 per cent whereas it is 2.8 per cent in #Odisha. Infections are being reported from 16 districts in the State,” Mishra said.
The State so far has reported 13,37,798 infections since the outbreak of the pandemic and 13,27,808 patients recuperated from the disease.
The State has reported 9206 deaths due to the virus.
Attributing the surge to a relaxation of COVID-appropriate behaviour, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has recommended people to wear masks in crowded places and avoid hugging, kissing and shaking hands.
