Bhubaneswar, May 26: The construction work for the Metro Rail System for Bhubaneswar Capital Region is likely to commence before the end of 2023, Housing and Urban Development Minister Usha Devi said on Friday.
The Minister was talking to newspersons after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik reviewed the key transformative initiatives of Housing & Urban Development Department at a meeting here.
Patnaik had announced the Metro Railway project on Utkal Diwas.
The Minister said Chief Minister has sanctioned Metro Rail Project and Delhi Metro Rail
Corporation is engaged as the consultant for the project.
She said the survey for the project has been completed and the DPR is under preparation.
The routes for the Metro Rail system has been finalised.
The metro train will run in between Bhubaneswar and Cuttack . It would be extended later to Jatni and Puri, the Minister said.
H & UD Principal Secretary G Mathi Vathanan said the project has been studied by various stakeholders and feasibility report prepared.
The Minister said, Chief Minister is likely to lay the foundation stone for the Metro Rail project
in June next.
