Odisha Weather Forecast and Update: Several Odisha Districts May Experience Thunderstorms Today
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) today issued yellow warning for some districts in Odisha, the State Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has issued an advisory to the district Collectors.
The IMD bulletin read, “Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri districts on Wednesday.”
In a letter to all Collectors, the SRC has advised the districts under yellow warning to keep administrative machinery ready to face any eventuality.
No major change in maximum temperature (day temperature) is expected during the next 4-5 days.
Earlier, the IMD had forecast thunderstorms, lightning, hail, and rain in various parts of Odisha till April 28 and advised precaution.

People may be advised to keep watch on weather and take safe shelter during the thunderstorm activity to protect from lightning and follow traffic advisories in urban areas.
Continuous vigil of low-lying areas, dewatering wherever required including urban areas may be taken up.
Rainfall may be reported immediately to this office.
