Odisha Train Tragedy: 205 Bodies Identified So Far, Informs BMC commissioner

Bhubaneswar: As many as 111 bodies of the victims of the three-train accident near Bahanaga Bazar in Odisha’s Balasore district on June 2 have been identified at the AIIMS-Bhubaneswar and handed over to their families, informed Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange on Thursday.

The accident claimed at least 288 lives and over 1,100 passengers were injured in the train accident.

Altogether, 205 dead bodies have been identified and handed over, while 83 bodies are stored in containers at the AIIMS-Bhubaneswar. Relatives of the deceased have been asked to come to Bhubaneswar to identify the deceased.

In addition, the authorities have sent photographs of the deceased to various divisional and zonal headquarters of the Railways in West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu for identifying the bodies.
