Odisha Reels Under Intense Heat, 40°C Above In 5 Places
Odisha on Thursday reeled under sweltering heat with temperatures soaring above 40 degrees Celsius in at least 5 places, a meteorological department official said.
Jharsuguda was the hottest place and recorded a temperature of 42.0°C followed by Sambalpur 41.8°C, Bhubaneswar 40.2°C, Chandbali & Hirakud 40.0°C, Keonjhar 38.0°C, Balasore 36.4°C
Gopalpur 33.2°C, Puri 33.2°C and Paradip 32.4°C, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
Due to prevailing Northwesterly/Westerly dry air and high solar insolation Maximum temperature (Day Temperature) maximum temperature (Day Temperature) is likely to be more than 40°C and above normal by 3 to 5°C at a few places over the districts of Odisha during the next 2 days, the IMD added.
Meanwhile, Special Relief Commissioner Satyabrata Sahu said all the districts were on alert and asked to take various measures to combat the heat wave situation in the state.
