Odisha Minister Died Of “Cardiogenic Shock” After Being Shot: Autopsy
Odisha police on February 1 said that the post-mortem report of the slain Health Minister Naba Kishore Das suggested that he died due to “cardiogenic shock” after being shot.
“Das’ death is homicidal in nature,” said a Crime Branch official quoting the postmortem report.
The shooter, dismissed additional sub-inspector Gopal Das, has been remanded to four-day police custody and his interrogation is being conducted by the state CID.
“Inspection of Das’ vehicle and the crime spot is continuing with the assistance of scientific officer and ballistic experts using FARO 3-D scanner. Our officials are now questioning the accused,” he said.
A Crime Branch team led by a DSP is examining the witnesses, including the supporters of the departed leader present at the crime spot on January 29.
Another team of the Crime Branch has been assigned the task to verify the medical record and financial dealings of accused Gopal Das, said the official.
“Steps are being taken to conduct Forensic Psychological Assessment and Layered Voice Analysis tests of the accused by experts of the CFSL, New Delhi.
The additional director general of police, CID-Crime, Odisha, Arun Bothra is camping at the spot and personally monitoring and supervising the investigation into the case.
It is worth mentioning here that accused Gopal Das, an ASI of Odisha Police, opened fire on Naba Das during an event at Brajarajnagar on January 29. Das was airlifted to a private hospital here in a critical condition. Das succumbed to his injuries on the same day.
A day later, ASI Gopal Das was dismissed from service.
