Odisha: Lord Lingaraj’s Chandan Yatra Schedule Finalised
Bhubaneswar: The 22-day-long Chandan Yatra of Lord Lingaraj is scheduled to commence on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya on April 23. The Trust Board of Lingaraj Temple held a meeting with the servitors and other stakeholders to finalise the schedule for the much-awaited festival.
The ‘Vimanas’ (palanquins) of Lord Lingaraj and other deities of the temple would be readied by 4 pm. They would be carried in the palanquins to Bindusagar (holy tank near the temple) for the Chandan Yatra after the completion of ‘Dwipahara Dhoopa’ at 5.30 pm.
The temple authorities have requested Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) to decorate the Chapa (raft) with lights. The civic authorities have put restrictions on the sale of non-vegetarian items in the surroundings of Bindusagar tank for the festival.
