Odisha likely to get respite from heat as IMD forecasts rain, thunderstorm for Today
Bhubaneswar: The regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast on Wednesday that thunderstorms may occur in several Odisha districts today, providing respite from the sweltering heat wave conditions in the state.
The IMD said that thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph are very likely to occur at some places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, and Jajpur districts on Wednesday.
Similarly, thunderstorms with lightning are very likely to occur at one or two places in Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Dhenkanal, and Angul districts today.
Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is also very likely to occur at a few places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, and Jajpur districts and in some places in Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Boudh, Rayagada, Malkangiri and Koraput, and the coastal districts of Odisha, the IMD added.
