BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha government on Wednesday issued notification regarding amendment of the Odisha Electric Vehicle Policy, 2021.
Through this amendment, the government has increased the subsidy on the purchase of two-wheeler, three-wheeler and four-wheeler electric vehicles (EVs).
The state had framed the EV policy in 2021 with an aim for adoption of 20 per cent electric vehicles by the end of 2025 as a measure of reduction of vehicular pollution.
“However, it is found that about 4.48 per cent of electric vehicles have been registered by the end of 2022 which is not satisfactory in comparison to the policy objective,” said the official statement.
Therefore, the state has amended clause 4.1.1 of the EV policy to increase the sales of EVs in Odisha. It has given different types of subsidies for three categories of vehicles.
According to the amendment, the state will give a subsidy of a maximum amount of Rs 20,000 per one two-wheeler. It can provide a subsidy of Rs 5000 per kilowatt hour. Previously, the state government was providing a flat Rs 5000 incentive per one two-wheeler.
Similarly, a four-wheeler can get a subsidy of Rs 10,000 per kilowatt hour with a maximum limit of Rs 1.5 lakh per one vehicle. The incentive was flat Rs 50000 earlier. For three-wheelers, the government will give a subsidy of Rs 30,000 (flat). There was no such subsidy for this category of vehicles earlier.
