Odisha & Eastern India To Face Above-normal Temps As IMD Predicts Heat Wave
Parts of eastern India, including Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha, are likely to face above-normal temperatures in May with a likelihood of heat wave conditions on some days, the weather office has said.
“Above-normal heat wave days are expected over most parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, east Uttar Pradesh, coastal Andhra Pradesh and some parts of North Chhattisgarh, east Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, and coastal Gujarat during May,” IMD Director General Mrutyunjay Mohapatra said.
During this period, parts of northwest and west-central India may experience warmer nights and below-normal temperatures during the day.
Night temperatures are expected to be above normal in some parts of North West and East India. Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh, coastal Andhra Pradesh, northern parts of Chhattisgarh, eastern Madhya Pradesh, Telangana and northern parts of Gujarat including Odisha will experience heat wave.
While the rainfall in May is expected to be normal in most parts of India, North West India may receive above normal rainfall, the Met department informed.
Meanwhile, there may be rain in different parts of the state till May 2. It is very likely to rain heavily in parts of the State on Saturday, the IMD stated.
Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Balangir, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundergarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj districts may experience lightning and thundershowers.
