Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik to lead delegation to Japan From Tomorrow; Focus On IT, Sports & Tourism
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will begin his weeklong tour to Japan, the third official overseas trip in his 23-year rule, on Tuesday to attract more investments to Odisha, thereby accelerate economic development and boost job creation, officials said.
A high-level delegation led by CM Patnaik will leave for Japan and visit cities in Japan such as Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto to attract investment for Odisha, said state industries and MSME minister Pratap Keshari Deb.
From the Chief minister’s Office, V K Pandian, Secretary to CM (5T) and Vineel Krishna, Special secretary to CM are accompanying the Chief Minister during the Japan tour.
A business delegation from Odisha, consisting of select industries in the Steel, Aluminium, Textiles, Food and Sea-Food processing, and Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia sectors, will also accompany the delegation to explore opportunities for collaboration with Japanese business houses.
During their visit, the high-level delegation will conduct one-to-one meetings with potential investors, host the Odisha Business Meet Tokyo 2023, and hold an interactive meeting with the Odia diaspora in Japan.
The delegation will also visit the Kimitsu Steel Works and the R & D Center of Nippon Steel Corporation. Further, the delegation will also explore avenues of collaboration in the areas of skill development and high-tech start-ups.
As per the chief minister’s schedule, he is expected to attend a business meeting and some other programmes in Tokyo on April 5. In Tokyo, he would stay for two days and from there he will leave for Osaka where he will attend different programmes, business and official meetings.
According to the official, the chief minister-led team would apprise the Japanese investors about the vast opportunities for them in the state, especially in the fields of tourism, food processing, mining and Information Technology (IT).
Deb further said that during Patnaik’s visit, the new industrial policy of Odisha and the various facilities offered to the investors by the state would also be discussed.
The business delegation accompanying the high-level state government delegation consists of representatives from diverse sectors such as Auto Components, Metal Downstream ancillaries, & refractories, Chemicals & Petrochemicals, Food Processing, Textiles and Apparel etc.
