Odisha CM Increases Cremation Assistance Under Harischandra Yojana
Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday issued an order increasing the financial assistance given to the poor for performing the last rites of their family members under Harishchandra Sahayata Yojana.
On the direction of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday, the assistance for the poor people to enable them in cremation of their near and dear ones has been increased from Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000 in rural areas and from Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,000 in urban places and Swargadwar in Puri.
The statement added that the expense for the scheme is being met from the chief minister’s relief fund (CMRF) and a sum of Rs 10.19 crore has been sanctioned from it for the revolving fund.
The responsibility of overseeing this new process has been given to the Gram Panchayat Extension Officer or any other block-level extension officer. Furthermore, modifications have been made in the scheme’s software to provide enhanced support, and a district-wise gram panchayat list has also been prepared.
