Bhubaneswar, July 20: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday approved the construction of an instream water storage project on the river Khadag at an estimated cost of Rs 126 crore.
The project, approved by the Technical Advisory Committee, will benefit around 20,000 people in Kantamal block of Boudh district, Baliguda block of Kandhamal district and Gudavella block of Bolangir district.
It would be constructed without any displacement of people, official sources said.
Besides conservation of water, the project will also meet the drinking water requirement of the people and will help in pisciculture and increase the level of ground water.
