The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) has selected Tankadhar Tripathy, as its candidate for the upcoming bypoll to the Jharsuguda Assembly Constituency in Odisha, informed party leader Subash Panigrahi today.
“The party is likely to announce his candidature soon,” he told mediapersons.
Earlier, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) announced Dipali Das, daughter of slain Health Minister Naba Kishore Das as its candidate for the Jharsuguda bypoll.
On the other hand, Congress state president Sarat Pattanayak has formed a committee led by senior leader and MLA Santosh Singh Saluja to select a suitable candidate.
The bypoll will be held on May 10 while the counting of votes will take place on May 13.
The bypoll was necessitated after the murder of the then sitting MLA Naba Kishore Das on January 29, this year.
