Odisha: Bikram Dev Autonomous college upgraded to University

Bhubaneswar, Feb 3: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday approved the proposal to upgrade the Vikram Dev Autonomous college Jeypore into a University.

The college, which is completing 75 years, has played a significant role in the field of higher education in the undivided Koraput district imparting teaching to BBA,BCA and B Ed students.

The college has now 16 Postgraduate, 17 undergraduate programmes.

At present all colleges of undivided Koraput district are affiliated to Berhampur university. After the new University thousands of students of Koraput, Rayagada, Nabarangpur and Malkangiri districts would be benefitted.

The Chief Minister hoped that it will be a milestone in the field of higher education in South Odisha.

It has also fulfilled the long standing demand of intellectuals, and students of undivided Koraput district, Patnaik said.
