Odisha: 6 members of a marriage party killed in road accident
Sambalpur, (Odisha), Mar 31: In a shocking incident six members of a marriage party were killed, two others injured, and one was missing after the vehicle they were travelling in fell into a canal late Thursday night.
All the deceased belonged to Baradhara village under Lakhanpur block of Jharsuguda district and two of the deceased are brothers belonging to a family.
Sources said the two injured were admitted to Sambalpur District headquarters hospital. All the six bodies were kept at the Sambalpur district headquarter hospital.
The vehicle carrying 11 members of the marriage party was returning from Paramapur village of Sambalpur to Baradhara village under Lakhanpur block in Jharsuguda district when the mishap took place.
The cause of the accident is not yet known. The driver of the vehicle is missing. It is not known whether he is absconding after the accident. Efforts are on to trace him.
A clear picture about the accident will be known only after the driver is traced.
Giving the details, one of the survivors said there were 11 people in the vehicle. The vehicle left soon after they took their dinner.
Although around 80 members of the marriage party had accompanied the groom in five to six vehicles for the marriage, the ill-fated vehicle left the marriage venue first soon after they took their dinner even before the marriage rituals started.
