Naba Das assassination: CB Searches Septic Tank At Jharsuguda Airport PS To Retrieve ‘Evidence’
In an unexpected turn of events in Odisha Minister Naba Das murder case, the Crime Branch searched a septic tank at the Jharsuguda Airport police station after lone accused Gopal Das reportedly revealed that he had dumped some letters in the wash room there.
After interrogating the accused ASI Gopal Krishna Das at the OSAP II Battalion premises here, the Crime Branch team dug up a sewage tank on the premises of Jharsuguda Airport Police Station in search of clues related to the crime.
During interrogation, the accused, a former ASI of police, told the investigators that he had mentioned in the letter as to why he killed the minister and later flushed it in the latrine, reports said.
Subsequently, Crime Branch officers took him to the spot while workers were engaged to dig out the tank. Following search, the letter was found. However, its text had gotten erased. The recovered letter has been sent to the State Forensic Science Laboratory in Bhubaneswar for examination, reports added.
After being held by police on the day of the murder on January 29, Gopal was initially taken to the Jharsuguda Airport police station, where he had allegedly tried to destroy the letter.
The Crime Branch has taken the accused on a 4-day remand foro sustained interrogation after getting permission from the Court of JMFC, Brajarajnagar on Wednesday.
Crime Branch ADG Arun Bothra had earlier said that accused Gopal Das has confessed to the crime during questioning.
The JMFC court on Wednesday allowed the Crime Branch to take the accused on four-day remand.
