‘My doors will remain open for poor, needy round the clock’ : Odisha Guv designate

Bhubaneswar, Oct 30: Odisha Governor designate Raghubar Das on Monday said ‘his doors will remain open for the poor and needy round the clock’.

Poor families are suffering and it is most important to work for their upliftment and the development of Odisha will be my priority,”Das told newsmen after offering prayers to the presiding deities of Sri Jagannath temple at Puri.

He said “I prayed to Lord Jagannath to bless the wellbeing of the people.

Earlier at 5 AM, Raghubar Das arrived at Puri railway station along with his family members and eighty close relatives through Purusottam express.

He was received by Odiaha Health Minister Niranjan Pujari, District magistrate Samarth Verma and Superintendent of Police K. Vishal Singh.

Raghubar Das was escorted to Puri Raj bhavan from the Railway station.

At about 11 am, they went to Sri Jagannath temple where Raghubar Das was recieved at the temple gate by temple chief administrator Ranjan Kumar Das, Collector Samarth Verma and SP Kanwar Vishal Singh besides BJP state president Manmohan Samal and local mla Jayant Kumar Sarangi.

He along with his accompanying members were escorted into the temple.

The Governor designate and his family members were taken into Garbhagriha. They had a close darshan of Lord Jagannath and his siblings on Ratnasinhasan.

Raghubar Das and his relatives also visited Mahalakshmi, Vimala, Hanuman and Biswanath deities in their respective temples located in the temple premises.

While coming out of the shrine, the temple administration presented the holy “Khandua cloth of the deity”.

Later he returned to Raj Bhavan and after some time he left for Bhubaneswar by road.

The former Jharkhand Chief Minister will be sworn in as Governor of Odisha on Tuesday.

Official sources said, Das will spend tonight at Raj Bhavan in Bhubaneswar and is scheduled to visit the Lingaraj temple in Old town on Tuesday morning before taking oath as the new Governor of Odisha.
