The state of Odisha has once again witnessed a case of suicide due to ‘love affair’. This time too a minor girl reportedly succumbed while undergoing treatment at VIMSAR, Burla on Tuesday as her Marriage proposal was rejected by her ‘lover’.
The incident occurred in Nunpani village under Dharamgarh block in Kalahandi district.
According to a source, a minor girl and a boy were in love. When the girl asked him to marry her, he didn’t agree, citing the reason for her belonging to another caste.
However, later they decided to end their lives by consuming poison.
But the boy went back on the promise and didn’t take any such steps as they promised. On the other hand, the minor girl drank poison in front of her boyfriend’s house.
She was rescued in a critical condition and immediately rushed to VIMSAR, Burla. While undergoing treatment, she breathed her last today.
Following the incident, the deceased’s family members staged a sit-in in front of the boy’s house keeping the body on the road. On being informed, a team from Koksara police station reached the spot and tried to convince the deceased’s family to call off the sit-in.
