Bhagabat Das, 30, and his friend Akshya Rout were drinking at the Pentha beach in the Rajnagar police station area when a fight broke out between them. As the situation escalated, Rout allegedly chopped off Das’s genitals with a sharp-edged weapon, police said.
According to reports, both friends had visited the Pentha beach in the Rajnagar police station area, where they had a violent brawl over some matter. Enraged Akshaya attacked Bhagabat with a sharp weapon and cut off his genitals. The victim was rescued by the friends he called up and the locals. He is now admitted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
Das was first taken to the Community Health Center (CHC) in Rajnagar, but later shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as his condition deteriorated, police said.
Meanwhile, the police are on the lookout for Akshya, who fled the spot after committing the crime. An FIR in the case has been filed by Bhagabat’s relative at the Rajnagar police station.
