Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance arrested Khariar BDO Narayan Sahoo on Wednesday night for alleged possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Sahoo was sent to judicial custody until January 31 by Court of the Special Judge (Vigilance), Balangir.
A case was previously registered against Sahoo and his wife by the Odisha Vigilance under sections 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b)/12 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
During a raid on January 17, assets worth 106% more than Sahoo’s known income were discovered, including multiple plots of land in and around Balangir, cash worth Rs 3.99 lakh, bank and insurance deposits worth over Rs 13.49 lakh.
The Vigilance also seized 764 grams of gold jewellery and 720 grams of silver ornaments worth over Rs 36 lakh, a four-wheeler worth Rs 14.38 lakh, two two-wheelers, and household items worth over Rs 7 lakh.
