Jumbo Tramples Elderly Woman To Death In Odisha’s Mayurbhanj

Rairangpur, August 2: With no respite in sight from elephant menace in the State, an elderly woman was killed after being attacked by a wild elephant in Dahi Sahi under Baripada Rage in Mayurbhanj district on Tuesday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Rani Naik, a 75-year-old woman from the Lada Jod area of the district.

The tragic incident occurred when Rani had gone to a nearby jungle to collect saal leaves this morning. Suddenly, an elephant appeared in front of her and trampled her to death.

Baripada Ranger Lakshmidhar Behera said that Rani had died on the spot.
