Internet Services Resume In Sambalpur, Curfew Timings Relaxed From 5 am to 8 pm
Sambalpur: Internet service was restored after the completion of the ban period at 6:00 AM in the Sambalpur district.
The restrictions were imposed on April 13 to curb the circulation of inflammatory messages and prevent misuse of social media. However, internet connectivity on broadband and leased line were restored on Friday, and internet services for mobile phone users were suspended.
It is pertinent to mention here that internet services were banned in view of the stone-pelting incident and other violence during the Hanuman Jayanti celebrations. The internet services were suspended as a precautionary measure by the administration to ensure that no inflammatory messages or rumours were spread which would create more unrest in the region.
Meanwhile, in view of the improving situation in the area, the curfew has been relaxed from 5:00 am to 8:00 pm to enable people to purchase essential items and allow business transactions during the period.
According to Sambalpur SP B Gangadhar, the curfew will be relaxed further in the next couple of days as the situation has improved in the area.
