IMD Issues Heatwave Warning For Eight Districts As Unbearable Heat Grips Odisha
Bhubaneswar: The regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday has forecast extreme heat wave conditions in several districts of Odisha and issued a heat wave warning for eight districts for the next two days.
The state is reeling under sweltering heat under the influence of Dry Westerly/Northwesterly winds and high solar isolation. The MeT has issued a 45 degree temperature alert in Odisha over few districts.
The IMD forecast heatwave conditions for three more days, while issuing yellow warning for eight districts, including, Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sonepur and Balangir on Tuesday.
Heat wave condition is likely in some districts of interior Odisha from 15th May while maximum temperature (Day Temperature) likely to be more than 40°C and above normal by 3 to 5°C at a few places over the districts of Odisha, it added.
People have been advised to take precautionary measures while going outside during the daytime, especially between 11.00 am and 3.00 pm.
