In a shocking incident, An on-duty home guard died as an unidentified vehicle ran over him near Deogaon Chhak under Ghasipura police limits in Odisha’s Keonjhar district, late last night.
The deceased has been identified as Suresh Rout, who was posted at Ghasipura police station.
According to reports, the matter came to the fore after some passersby notice the body and immediately informed the police about the same.
According to reports, the mishap took place when Rout was engaged in patrolling duty. As he tried to stop a goods-laden vehicle, it ran over the home guard, killing him on the spot.
On being informed, a team from Ghasipura police station reached the spot and recovered the mutilated body of the home guard. The body was sent to Anandapur sub-divisional hospital for post-mortem.
Meanwhile, his colleagues from the police station and family members reached the hospital to claim the body after the autopsy.
Efforts were on by cops to trace and nab the vehicle driver. More details are awaited.
