Heritage Village: Odisha CM Unveils 15-ft statue of Utkalmani Pandit Gopabandhu Das at Suando
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today dedicated Suando Peeth, the birth place of Utkalmani Gopabandhu Das, to the nation.He also unveiled the newly installed 15-ft statue of Gopbandhu and the museum.
The CM flew in a chopper from Bhubaneswar airport at 10.50 am and landed on a temporary helipad constructed at Suando at 11 am. After a visit to the Shiva temple, he travelled to the birthplace of Utkalmani. He then took a battery car to the inauguration area.
Suando village has been developed as a heritage village and tourist destination at investment of Rs 25 crore. The CM also inaugurated Gopabandhu Museum and unveiled a 15-ft high bronze statue of Gopabandhu Das installed on a 10-ft high pedestal.
Addressing the people present on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that Gopbandhu was a man of the ages. The Odia people are always indebted to him. No matter what is done to protect his memory, it will be less.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that the state government has decided to develop birthplaces for the sons of Odisha under 5T initiatives. He said that the sacrifices of Madhusudan Das, Captain Fakir Mohan, Gangadhar Meher, Shaheed Laxman Naik and many more heroes have increased the glory of Odisha.
An information center has been constructed along with the Sathee Ghar , a Shiva temple, a park, a children’s playground, pond, canteen, and a shopping complex at Bhargavi river bank have been developed while the village has been beautified. The plan is spread over 7 acres.
Around 20 to 25 thousand people gathered today. For this, the security system has been tightened around the area to maintain law and order. CCTV has been installed in the Suando village and the meeting place for monitoring.
