The hanging body of a student has been recovered from the hostel of Umerkote Government Industrial Training Institute in Nabarangpur district.
The deceased has been identified as Nageswari Gond, a resident of Salebhata village under Raighr police station limits in the district. Nageswari was a second-year student of the Mechanical (Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning) trade in the ITI.
Nageswari’s body was reportedly found hanging inside the Room No-2 in the girls’ hostel of the government-run institution.
However, it is not known under what circumstances the student committed suicide. The hostel superintendent or chairman did not comment anything about why the student committed suicide.
On being informed, Umerkote Police reached the ITI campus and initiated a probe into the matter. It is yet to be ascertained why the girl took such a drastic step. Further detailed report awaited.
