Koraput: In a major breaktrough, Police have seized Ganja estimated to worth more than Rs. 50 lakh from a truck near the Nuaput river bank in Koraput district on Tuesday.
The Machkund police got a reliable tip-off in this matter, intercepted the vehicle near the Nuaput river bank and conducted a raid. In the raid, the police found that the truck was carrying as much as Rs. 50 lakh worth ganja.
During the search, the police recovered a huge cache of contraband from the truck. However, the driver of the truck, the truck owner and the peddler managed to escape from the spot.
The ganja was about to be transported to outside Odisha, said police.
The police also stated that a case will be registered agaisnt the truck onwer under the NDPS Act after inspections of papers of the vehicle.
