Bhubaneswar: Former Chairman of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Dr Jagannath Mohapatra passed away at his Shahid Nagar residence in the capital city on Wednesday. He was 84.
According to sources, he was suffering from health alignments. He passed away at his residence in the Shaheed Nagar area of Bhubaneswar.
In 1997, he served as the chairman of BMC. BMC was formed during his era. Jagannath Mohapatra was also the Vice President of All India Mayors Association. He has performed his duties as a doctor in many hospitals including Capital Hospital. Jagannath Mohapatra was the founder of Jagannath Hospital.
Following the demise of Dr. Jagannath Mohapatra, a pale of gloom is spread over BMC.
