Entry Fee For Museums In Odisha To Be Within Rs 10, Free Entry For Students, Weavers, Artisans

In a bid to attract visitors and get them acquainted with Odisha art and culture, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has ordered that the entrance fee (ticket) of any museum in the state will not be more than Rs 10 and it will be totally free for students, artisans, craftsmen and weavers.

“Odisha is the land of art. Our art and culture have created a unique identity of Odisha all over the world. Museums have played an important role in preserving and promoting this great heritage of ours,” the Chief Minister directed the department, adding, “The entry fee of any museum in the state should not be more than Rs 10.”

The move will help public, especially the youth, students and tourists, get better acquainted with state heritage, art and culture.

Patnaik further directed to take steps to ensure that museums in our state become more popular and tourists get an opportunity to visit them.

It is worth noting here that Bhubaneswar has the State Museum along with the arts, land, tribal, culture and research museums, maritime museum in Cuttack and many other museums in different districts. The Chief Minister’s decision will help immensely popularize them and attract large number visitors.

State Museum, Kala Bhoomi and Tribal Museum in Bhubaneswar and Odisha State Maritime Museum in Cuttack are among the major museums in the state.

The fresh announcement is likely to make them popular and attract more footfalls in the coming days.
