Cuttack: Bikash Chandra Bhuyan, an assistant engineer of Cuttack Sadar block, has come under the vigilance scanner for allegedly possessing huge disproportionate assets.
He also invested in cryptocurrency. Simultaneous raids were underway at multiple locations in the state to unearth his alleged ill-gotten properties. Bhuyan was detained for questioning and the value of his assets was being calculated.
“We found that he spent about Rs 1 crore on his children’s education, details of which have been unearthed during search operations. Seven plots of land worth nearly Rs 1 crore in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, bank deposits and jewellery worth over Rs 50 lakh have so far been found in the names of Bhuyan and his kin.
In another anti-corruption operation, the vigilance officials have detained Pradeep Kumar Chandrakar, a banking assistant of Bhawanipatna Central Cooperative Bank, Komna branch in Nuapada district for allegedly possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
