Covid-19 Update: Odisha reports one more death, 258 new cases
Odisha has reported 258 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. This is the highest number of cases reported in a single day this year. With this, the number of active cases in the state has reached 1186. Union Health Ministry data showed on Friday.
In the last 24 hours 173 infected persons have recovered. One person has dies of Covid in Odisha in the last 24 hours.
It is worth mentioning here that at least 200 new active Covid-19 cases are being recorded in Odisha every day for the last three days. On Thursday, the tally of active Covid-19 cases crossed the 1,000 mark for the first time this year.
The State so far has reported 13,38,468 infections since the outbreak of the pandemic.
In view of the steep rise in the number of daily Covid-19 cases, the Odisha government has already urged the Centre to provide requisite doses for carrying out the precautionary vaccination drive in the State.
The State government has requested the Centre to provide at least 50,000 doses of CorBEvax vaccine with long expiry as early as possible.
Earlier, Odisha Public health director Niranjan Mishra had urged people to get tested and start treatment if they develop Covid-19 symptoms after isolating themselves.
