Puri: Three persons including a couple died when two bikes on which they were travelling were hit by a speeding bus near Omkareswar temple on the Mangalaghat-Sterling Square bypass road in Puri on Monday night.
The deceased couple was Satya Niranjan Dash (55) and his wife Gayatri Dash (50) of Chhatrapur block in Ganjam district. The other deceased was identified as Rakesh Nanda (20) of the Mangalaghat area of Puri.
Gayatri was the pillion rider on Rakesh’s scooter and Satya Niranjan, was traveling on another two-wheeler. They were returning back to their home after attending a marriage engagement function.
Satya Niranjan and Rakesh were waiting on the roadside at Omkareswar Square to cross the national highway when they were hit by the speeding bus. All three deceased died on the spot. The driver of the bus surrendered t the Baselisahi police station following the tragic accident.
