Amid tight security, the counting of votes polled in the elections to the Notified Area Councils (NACs) of Atabira in Bargarh district and Hindol in Dhenkanal district began at 8.00 am on Wednesday. The results are expected today evening.
The Odisha Election Commission has made adequate arrangements for the counting of votes. Polling was held for post of Councillor and Chairperson for Hindol NAC in Dhenkanal district and Attabira in Bargarh district on April 3.
In Atabira NAC, a total of 39 candidates contested for the posts of Councillors in 12 Wards, while four candidates contested for the post of Chairperson.
Similarly, in Hindol NAC, a total of 50 candidates contested in the elections for the posts of Councillors in 16 Wards and three candidates contested for the post of Chairperson.
According to State Election Commission sources, while 88 per cent of votes were polled in Hindol NAC, 74 per cent of votes were polled in Atabira NAC.
