At 39.4°C, Sambalpur & Jharsuguda hottest place by 11.30 am in Odisha
Bhubaneswar: Even as the heat wave conditions continue to prevail across Odisha, Sambalpur and Jharsuguda were the hottest places in the state each recording 39.4°C at 11.30 am on Tuesday.
These two locations in western Odisha were followed by Hirakud (39.2°C), Bhubaneswar (37.0°C), Chandbali (37.0°C) Keonjhar (36.2°C), Balasore (35.6°C), Puri (35.4°C), Gopalpur (33.8°C) and Paradip (33.4°C).
Meanwhile, the regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) today predicted that intermittent rain will continue in the state till June 3. Coastal, north and south Odisha will witness thundershowers. There is no possibility of any major change in the day temperature (maximum temperature) in western Odisha and the temperature is likely to be 42°C or more in various places of the state.
There will be heavy lightning, rain, and wind speeds of 40 to 50 kmph in many districts in north and south Odisha for the next four days. A yellow alert has been issued to six districts in south Odisha for Tuesday, while a yellow alert has been issued for 14 districts for Wednesday and four districts for June 1.
According to the IMD, a cyclone is active in and around Telangana and another cyclone has formed in and around the south-east Gangetic valley.
