Rourkela: In a move to boost regional air connectivity, Alliance Air is set to launch direct flights between Kolkata and Rourkela in Odisha, starting from Tuesday, December 26. This strategic addition follows the airline’s successful Kolkata to Rourkela via Bhubaneswar daily service introduced in October.
The new direct service will operate thrice a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. The flight schedule promises enhanced convenience for travelers, with the Rourkela-Kolkata route offering a fare of Rs 1,999.
According to sources, an ATR-72 Alliance Air flight will take off from Rourkela at 4.05 pm on December 26, reaching Kolkata at 5.35 pm. On other days, the departure from Rourkela will be at 3.50 pm, with arrival in Kolkata at 5.20 pm.
The return leg will see the flight departing from Kolkata at 11 am, reaching Rourkela at 12.30 pm.
In addition to the new direct service, the flight timings for the Rourkela-Bhubaneswar sector will also be adjusted. The revised schedule aims to optimize connectivity for passengers traveling between these cities.
As per the updated timings, the Rourkela to Bhubaneswar flight will depart at 12.55 pm, reaching Bhubaneswar at 2 pm. The return flight from Bhubaneswar will take off at 2.30 pm, landing in Rourkela at 3.10 pm. This particular flight service was initially introduced ahead of the Men’s World Cup hockey earlier this year, catering to increased travel demand during the sporting event.
Furthermore, Alliance Air is set to resume its flight services between Bhubaneswar and Jharsuguda from December 27, offering enhanced connectivity to passengers. The one-way fare for this route is priced at Rs 1,999, with flights available four times a week.
