12-hour Congress Bandh Hits Normal Life In Odisha’s Koraput
Koraput: The Congress is observing a 12-hour dawn-to-dusk bandh in Odisha’s Koraput district on Tuesday over allegations that the Union and the state governments are neglecting the district. The party has also put forth a list of demands for the development of Koraput.
Congress MLA from Jeypore Tara Prasad Bahinipati said that the bandh has been called in support of their several demands for the uplift of Koraput and its residents.
According to reports, the bandh call has been given by the Koraput district Congress president Meenakshi Bahinipati over the following demands below:
- Establishment of Central School at Jeypore
- Provide employment opportunities to educated young women
- Give preference to young women with CT, BED, and DIET training in school appointments
- Fill up the vacant 3rd and 4th-grade posts in various departments in the district
- Recruitment of local people in various vacant posts
- Recruitment of BAC Nursing aspirants on a priority basis
- Appointment of faculty members and admission of students at the BED College in Koraput
- Setting up a Central Driving Training Research Center at Jeypore
- Establishment of a central school at Jeypore
All government offices, business establishments, and educational institutions remained closed, while public transport vehicles were off the road creating immense problems for the locals. Reportedly, hundreds of vehicles were seen stranded on National Highway No. 26 as the bandh supporters blocked the main traffic intersection of the highway.
