One person was killed and two others sustained critical injuries in a clash between two families over a land dispute in Angul district on Thursday morning.
While the deceased has been identified as Nabeena Sahu, the injured have been admitted to Angul District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).
The incident reportedly took placet Badahinsar village under the jurisdiction of Jarpada police station in the district.
According to reports, ,the families of Nabina Sahu and Raghunath Sahu of Ladahinsar village were quarrelling over the ownership of land for the past few days. A fresh argument erupted over the issue this morning and members of both the families entered into a clash and fought a pitched battle using sticks and axe.
Subsequently, Nabeena Sahu died on the spot in a fierce show of aggression by Raghunath’s family, while the former’s wife Ashanti Sahu sustained serious injuries.
Both the injured persons were rushed to the district headquarters hospital for treatment and their condition was stated to be critical.
On receiving news about the incident, a team from the Jharpada police station reached the spot and launched a probe into the incident.
