Maha Legislative Council Poll: Counting Halted Over Cong’s Objections

Mumbai, Jun 20: The process of the counting of votes for election to 10 seats of the Maharashtra Legislative Council was halted on Monday, after the Congress party challenged the Returning Officer’s decision to reject objections against two opposition BJP MLAs — Mukta Tilak and Laxman Jagtap — for alleged violation of voting rules in the state Council polling.

Against the RO’s order, the Congress party, one of the constituents of the ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi government, has made a plea to the Election Commission, sources said.
