7-year-old girl protects younger brother under rubble, moving photograph melts hearts online

A picture has surfaced, on social media website Twitter, In the wake of the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, a seven-year-old girl shielded her younger brother while they remained trapped under debris.

The girl in the picture is seen shielding her younger brother from the falling debris.

UN representative Mohamad Safa, who shared the photo on Twitter, noted that the duo stayed under the rubble for 17 hours and made it out safely.

ā€œThe 7 year old girl who kept her hand on her little brotherā€™s head to protect him while they were under the rubble for 17 hours has made it safely. I see no one sharing. If she were dead, everyone would share! Share positivityā€¦ā€ read his tweet.

The photograph left netizens emotional and many praised the girl for her compassionate gesture in the distressful situation. A user commented, ā€œMiracles happen. What a great big sister. Lovingly protective under such stressful circumstances. Hope for all those still trapped. Respect for all the rescuers working tirelessly.ā€ Another user wrote, ā€œOh bless her ā€“ childrenā€™s love and resilience makes me weep.ā€ A third user commented, ā€œOW! The death toll in Syria has now risen above 10,000. The Syrian White Helmets who have undertaken rescue operations in the northwestern part of the country said that the death toll has risen above 1,200 in rebel-held areas.

According to reports on social media, the video was made in Aleppo, Syria. Under the rubble of the earthquake, a Syrian woman gave birth to a child. The woman unfortunately passed away, but the moment the new-born child was saved was shared on social media.
